    Default New Bike

I'm looking at purchasing a new bike so my wife can ride along. The 2012 Kawaski Vulcan caught my eye while out looking yesterday. I'm a pretty vertically challanged guy 5'5" and that bike just seemed to fit me. Does anyone have any thoughts on a good touring bike?

My wife has a 900 Kawasaki Vulcan and she loves it. I had her seat redone to add support and padding to fit her better and that's it. She is 5' 7".

Check out the Harley-Davidson Softail Low. The H-D will always hold it's value way more than any of the other brands do. I rode Yamahas for 31 years, so I speak from experience. I switched to Harley in 2011 and am loving it! Check out www.reelbrothershd.com. They are my dealership and they treat people great!

You can also put a Reach seat on Harley touring models this is a lower seat for vertically challengered folks

Really depends on what you mean as "touring" and "ride along" is she just going go on a sun ride to the local stops and rides?are you packing the bike and heading out for a weekend? their is a lot great bikes for a 5'5 guy and many things can be done to make a bike work for you......first....you need to answer question1!! is it around town or over the road? you can make a Heritage work for you with little money, that bike is great around town even on the occasional weekender and very comfy for her as well.....lowering kit or shocks or seat........my friends wife has been on one for years and she is shorter than you..........as for long distance and "true touring bike" Harley's Bigger bikes can be retrofitted for you also......there a kit that cost a little more to do "or find one done" they take the area under the seat and have a kit to lower 2in also shocks again and lowering kit...as for older Valkyrie "sp?" I have friend who 5,5 and rides one loves it but he can not go places we do very easy like rocky pk lots etc paved lots he has no issues......cant help with rest of metric line up.......

I think its a nice size for a woman, I really think it was targeted for women who wanted a touring bike without all bulk, I haven't rode one just sat on one, the thing I like about Harley's is you can custom tailor one to fit you and your style, your new bike come in yet? I like the Victory touring bikes I'm 5'7" and they seemed big to me, I ride a Harley Road Glide now, its pretty easy for the wife and I to take off for a week with just the saddle bags and a 3300 cubic inch bag on the back, I do have a roll bag that goes on top but we usually only take that in the fall when its chilly out.

No new bikes this year. I really do like my Heritage Springer. Wife is still good on her Vulcan. I can wait for a Heritage Springer to come out with a Screaming Eagle pkg. 6 speed and efi. No Indian in the near future. I went over to storage today just to hear my bike run!!!
