Default Hidden/Control Characters Being Displayed

I thought it was maybe just me but I've seen this in at least a couple of other posts.

The post text looks fine when typed but when the reply is submitted, the hidden/control character codes are being displayed (spaces, carriage returns, tabs, etc.). These character codes also show up in the post preview even before the reply is submitted.

The Jd fundraiser post by jonesin in the Miscellaneous section today illustrates this behavior. It seems to be random, as most posts, including a response to his post, look normal.

I'm stumped.

Yeah, it's weird, when it started happening I couldn't get rid of it. I was starting to think it was personal.

I do think I've stumbled onto something though. If I don't select "Go Advanced", the post text here comes out normal. If I edit the post and switch between "Go Advanced" and the "Quick Reply". The characters will appear or disappear depending on which option I choose. This is the behavior. Why it's happening I have no idea. This is a question for the software gurus.

I'm updating this again because I've discovered that I'm still running into the problem, even in the quick reply, although to a much lesser degree.

I will have my tech specialists look into this, as it is above my pay grade. :)

I'm trying not to be the squeaky wheel but I guess it's just a natural talent. Any insight into the cause of the Bulletin Board Bug (BBB) that is messing up the posts? It will be really interesting to find out what is causing it.

I do run a test periodically to see if it somehow magically fixed itself but haven't seen a change so far.

    Hi Kelly.

My apologies. I messed up in trying to communicate with the wizard that helps me with the more complicated board issues. I did this morning and he replied he will be looking into it, so it should not be too long of a wait.

    Sorry for the delay!

What is even stranger is I was the original poster, that (his response) to my post looks fine when I open it, but my original post has all the characters in it. So different people are seeing the characters on different posts. I know I have not changed anything on my account.

I was so frustrated with that post! I did try to clean it up after the fact. Looks like you caught it in between my original post and the some what cleaned up version...

Any official word on what the problem was? As I check the preview I apparently still have the problem...

So my post above had lots of characters in it a second ago. I clicked edit and resaved and it looks better now... This one I'm just hitting submit, not preview. Wonder if that makes a difference?

This problem has been on and off for four months and counting. Is anything in the way of an investigation or fix happening here at all? I take this as a very grievous omen for the future of this forum in its present form! Go to: <a href="http://www.vbadvanced.com/<a" "="" target="_blank">http://www.vbadvanced.com/<a""=""< a=""> target="_blank"> then from the Services menu on the left click on Support Forums then Announcements and vBadvanced No Longer Officially Supported, where you will find the following:
It is with a bit of a heavy heart that I would like to announce that vBadvanced can no longer be officially supported. I know official support has waned over the last few years, but I have still tried my best to keep up with things while trying to earn a living and keep my bills paid. These days, vBulletin is not the same software that it once was, and it is no longer something that I can base my livelihood on as I once could. I feel extremely blessed and must say that I thoroughly enjoyed my days where my only concern was creating vBulletin add-ons and helping to support some absolutely amazing forum owners. The internet has changed drastically over the last few years though, and I feel it's "officially" time for me to move on as well. I had thoughts of evolving vBadvanced and turning our products into stand-alone software in order to keep things going, but I suppose that wasn't vBadvanced's destiny.I've recently started a new full-time position with a local company where I'll be responsible for creating software that helps to raise many millions of dollars for various charity organizations each year. It's hard to say no to an opportunity like that, and so I plan to do my best and devote my full attention to this new position.
With that said, I do still intend to keep vBadvanced.com live for as long as I can and while it's at least making enough money to keep the servers live. Just a couple of sales a month will cover that at this point. Without trying to brag, I know vBadvanced CMPS has been one of the most popular forum add-ons ever created and I would like to continue to make our products available to vB3 and vB4 forum owners for as long as possible. At the same time, I feel it's a matter of integrity to keepour customers informed, so I wanted to make this announcement to let our customers know that vBadvanced products should be considered EOL (end of life). I would like to truly thank each and every one of our customers that have made vBadvanced possible.
(See, I can't even post a simple link without it being screwed up!)</a""=""<>
